Executive Producer Joe Mantegna
Joe Mantegna is a patriot and a Tony Award Winning actor who has made over 200 film and TV appearances. He is also a producer, writer, and director, and is probably best known for his role FBI Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi in the CBS television series Criminal Minds and his role, Joey Zasa in the Francis Ford Coppola epic The Godfather Part III.
Veterans' Voices
Heroic Episodes is a dramatic series inspired by real stories of U.S. veterans and their families—stories gathered over two decades of interviews conducted by creator Lisa Regina. The series honors the truth, resilience, and humanity of those who served, focusing not only on war, but on the courage it takes to come home, heal, and keep serving others.
Lisa’s mission is to bring these voices to the screen while creating real impact behind the scenes. Production of Heroic Episodes will directly support the Veterans Drone Training Program (VDTP), providing veterans with hands-on training, job opportunities, renewed camaraderie, and a meaningful path toward healing through storytelling.
On-Set Experiences
Veteran drone pilots will work directly on the Heroic Episodes set — a core promise of the Veterans Drone Training Program (VDTP). The program goes beyond standard drone certification, offering veterans a path into film and aviation while rebuilding purpose, confidence, and community.
Through trauma-informed practices and partnership with 22 Zero, VDTP supports post-traumatic growth by creating space for veterans to share their stories and reclaim their narrative. The tools are drones — but the outcomes are resilience, connection, and hope.
Behind the scenes
Veteran returns home and continues to serve his community as a mentor to an urban teen.
